People always ask us to list our favorite things to do in the Outer Banks. We have put together a list of some of our enjoyed highlights and hope you find it helpful during your stay!

Treat Yourself to the Perfect Beach Day

Spend a day soaking up the sun and playing in the waves at the beach. The Outer Banks offer miles of pristine beaches that are perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. If you are willing to make an adventure of it, drive south for patches of sand all to yourself. 

Visit Swell’s Brewing

Swell’s Brewing is a local microbrewery that offers a variety of craft beers, including IPAs, stouts, and lagers. Visitors can take a tour of the brewery, sample some of the beers, enjoy the laid-back atmosphere, and catch some local  live music. Take a sailing cruise with Coastal Sols

Coastal Sols offers sailing cruises that allow visitors to explore the beautiful waters surrounding the Outer Banks. Their day and sunset cruises include a hand-crafted charcuterie board and complimentary drinks. Coastal Sols provide one of the most epic dining experiences in the area: a sunset sail followed by a three course coast-to-table dinner at anchor. You can check them out here

Get you fix at Nags Head Pizza Co.

There are lots of pizza places on the Outer Banks, but Nags Head Pizza Company is by far our favorite. Their thin crust artisan pizzas are so creative and delicious. They have a variety of toppings and crusts to meet all preferences and dietary needs. You won’t want to leave the Outer Banks without making a post-beach stop here

Take surf lessons with Outer Surf

The Outer Banks is known for its incredible surf, and visitors can take advantage of this by taking surf lessons with Outer Surf. Their experienced instructors will teach visitors the basics of surfing, helping them to catch waves and feel the thrill of riding the ocean. Outer Surf has a true vibe about them. Attend a concert at Roanoke Island Festival Park

Road trip to the Bodie Island Lighthouse

Take a trip to the Roanoke Island Aquarium

Shop at the Local Art and Farmer’s Market

Visitors looking for fresh, local produce and unique souvenirs can shop at the Secotan or Dowdy Farmers Market. Both markets offer a variety of products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, handmade crafts, and local goods. The Dowdy Market is held every Thursday from June 15 through August 17, from 9 am until 1 pm. The Secotan Market is held every Saturday May – September, 8am -12pm.   

Visit Island Farm

Step back in time at Island Farm. This living history museum offers a glimpse into life on a 19th-century farm, complete with costumed interpreters and hands-on activities. This is a great interactive experience for the entire family! Find out more information here
