FREQUENTLY ASKED

QUESTIONS

What about the weather?

The captain will contact you no later than 2 hours before your departure time if we have to cancel due to inclement weather. Inclement weather refers to any weather conditions Coastal Sols deems unsafe to sail in: lightning, thunderstorms, heavy winds, rain, etc. This does not include overcast skies or fluctuations in temperature. If the captain cancels your charter due to unsafe weather conditions, Coastal Sols will allow you the opportunity to reschedule for a new date one year from your original booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

To book a sail we require a 20% non-refundable deposit. If your sail is cancelled for any reason-we do allow you to apply your deposit to a new sail within a year from your original booking date!

Where are you located?

305 Queen Elizabeth Ave, Manteo, NC 27954

First boat on the right side of the dock directly behind Poor Richard's Sandwich Shop.  Our boat has a navy blue hull and her name is Pelican.

Where do we park?

We are located a short distance from any of the downtown street parking spots or parking lots.  The closest lots are on the left side of Poor Richards Sandwich shop and by the boat ramp.  There is lots of street parking as well.

What should we bring?

We encourage you to bring a hat, sunglasses, and to apply a little sunscreen before arriving. If you choose to remove your shoes, we will have a basket on the dock to tuck them in and we will store them securely down below.

Is there a bathroom on board?

Yes! On boats, the bathroom is referred to as a “head”. It is electric and very easy to use!

how many people may sail with you?

SV Pelican is a classic sailboat- very similar to a classic car. She is 35ft long, sleek and very narrow. These characteristics make sailing a dream. We want you, your friends, and your loved ones to be able to relax and be comfortable on board for the entire experience.  Our sails are limited to 6 people.

May I leave gratuity?

Absolutely! Gratuity is greatly appreciated. The crew spends a lot of time prepping for your arrival and making your experience a memorable one. Don’t worry if you don’t have cash available, there is an option to add it to your tab electronically following your charter. Just ask! :)

Are children welcome on sailing charters?

Yes. Children are welcome. However, we find that little ones under 2 years of age are a little too young to fully enjoy the experience. Please keep in mind children under 13 years of age must wear a life jacket at all times on board in the state of North Carolina.
